Hello Good People! I havent been on for awhile because I just aint finding anything anymore. I do however have a friend that found an interesting piece and Im just not sure what it is other than it being sandstone. Could any of you help me identify it?

i do not recognize that one....
 
What are the measurements? According to my book, it could be a "Stone Gouge" from the Archaic period, or a "Stone Boat" from the Woodland period. I have no idea what either of those tools were used for.

i don't think a gouge would be made of sandstone...

I always thought they were a type of smoothing stone, like for rounding a shaft or softer stone? Tony
 
Could it be a handle to a bow? I really have no idea I'm just throwing ideas out there. Never found one. I hope someone knows!

Sounds like an interesting book. What is the title/author?
 
Interesting piece for sure. I know here they did make Celts out of Sandstone but not sure on your piece as to what it is. Boat Stone comes to mind but lets here the story on it as to how it was found.
