I have a pretty odd question for you guys I was cleaning my silver like I always do with warm water foil salt and bakeing soda well this time a odd smell accured it smells like rotten eggs anyone know why this happened?

Rotten egg smell is sulfur, most likely coming off the gunk on the silver.

The tarnish that collects on objects made of silver is silver sulfide, a black solid. Tarnish forms from trace amounts o f h y d r o g e n s u l f i d e present in the atmosphere. Rotten egg odor is hydrogen sulfide gas being released as the tarnish is dissolved.

Interesting question, interesting answer! This aroma also happens when a government without spending limits asks for more of your silver so they can keep doing what they want too. IMHO...............63bkpkr
