Don't put where you found it, keep your spot a secret, but if you could say what type of place it was (forest, or private property, sidewalk repair, school, park, ect.) also if you could remember how deep it was, that would be cool too.

This is just for fun, and maybe it can help you gauge the depth of old coins for specific areas that you hunt.

1913 Wheat Cent, forest preserve probably 3 to 4 inches deep.

I found an 1876 Indian Head Cent at the park at about 8". Oldest is not necessarily better!! :icon_pirat: I'll take a key date coin over an oldie anytime!

I found a 1892 IH penny at around 6" on my dads hunting property.

Oldest US coin found in ILL.. an 1813 Large cent ( wide date) oldest US silver 1841 seated dime... & Non-US a 1791 2 Reales ..both found in plowed field...Damn what a spot. Will post pics if anyones interested...I just bought my first camera...Billthekidd

1836 large cent 8" churchyard
1866 sheild nickel with rays 7" 1870's backyard
