Welcome to Treasure Net !!
Interesting.
I would have guessed the outline of an object that was once within a clump of cooling slag or some other conglomerate--versus being a fossil.
Don.

i will post the piece i found it in but it was within a cavity like it lived there.. if u look at my post fossilized critters? u will see it

Your last photo appears to show an impression of a cronoid stem fossil in matrix. As for your other photo's, it would help if there was a little more light on the subject mater. Cronoid fossils are quite common.

i knew what the bottom was sorry, couldnt un-attach for some reason

did u look at other pic?.. i was told by a member of our historical society hes pretty sure its a fossil. he didnt know of what though and neither does anyone else so far and until someone is willing to help me prep the rest of the piece(my prep. knowledge is poor) it came from i dont think anyone will know for sure. i got some really neat stuff, i need help on techniques and help with what some things are. i dont have time or proper eqpt. to post pics of everything i got

You did fairly well on your last photo, just try it again but add a little more light towards the specimen.

that is a petrified cardinal....can't yall see it too?...or a jay
