What's new

What is this (copper) object? I found it in a curb strip next to an old home. It looks like it’s late 19th to early 20th c. vintage to me

Maybe a strainer of some sort?

Thumb lever for a latch maybe?

Maybe a strainer of some sort?
thanks that makes sense, so, I just realized, the holes are passing through the metal piece if it's indeed a strainer, should clean it to see, I really thought at first that the patterns I was seeing were knurls

Looks to be a cover for a smoking pipe bowl.
