What is this decorative brass object?

This is kind of a recent find made at a 1915 era site, but I don't think it's jewelry. Any ideas?

It is half of a ladies sash buckle. Turn of the 20th Century give or take a decade.

I just took another look at the back attachment and the brass loop is still there... sash buckle.
