Found this really cool thing but I have no clue what it is. I tried looking up the serial number but all I find is aircraft oxygen tanks and that doesn't appear to be right. It's got a ton of markings on the inside and out and it makes a noise like a bell but I can't find a bell like it. It is extremely heavy and is about 20" tall. The markings are as follows:

Side 1:
icc3aa1800
386499
Pst
3064

Side 2:
Cbcc
178

Side 3:
10 c2 84 92
11 06 35 94

The handle:
5/6
USA

Inside:
An arrow shape
400
50w

A circle with a mark I can't read. IA or IR.

I'm sure it's very simple but for the life of me I can't figure out what it is.

I would like to add I assumed it was some kind of weight when I got it but I have no clue what it would be used for.

Looks like an oxygen type tank that someone has made into a bell. I know for a fact that has been done by a muzzleloading rifle club to make a clanger to shoot at.

A welding gas container cut down used as bell is what it looks like to me. Maybe camp cooks dinner bell.:icon_thumright:

I can imagine the sound of a muzzle loader round connecting with that bell! Awesome Idea..bad for ricochets unless far away which I am sure they are.

The last inspection date is 94 so it was cut after that date.
The piece they are using as the bell clapper is part of the valve from the top of the tank.
A few years back I had an oxygen tank with the oldest inspection date I have seen .It was 1938 and had a swastika beside the date.
