Looks like the turn part from a crescent wrench. crescent wrench.webp

Test it with a magnet to see if its steel.

I's called a "worm gear". Could be from an old adjustable but if it is brass, probably from a small gear box. Tony

I think Tony is on to something because I see no knurling on the threads for a thumb/finger grip.

It is not magnetic. I think it might be brass too. It is as green as the 1880 IH that I found within 15 ft. Thanks for the help.

if its a brass worm gear it could be from a water valve also.
