Puns this the other day while digging on a site with the backhoe. I have no clue what it is. One pic of the whole thing and one close up of a spot that recently broke off. That spot has some red and orange colors to it my first thought was granite. But I'm thinking it's not. Any clue?

Ok so I finally got this thing to break open. Wasn't east it was almost solid. But hopefully now someone can help me out with exactly what it is and it did have a hard outer shell that broke away first

Just to clarify. Chalcedony, jasper, chert, flint, onyx, agate, chrysoprase, tigers eye, aventurine just name a few, are all varieties of quartz. So this is a quartz nodule. You might have different varieties of quartz within one nodule. But the nodule itself is all quartz.
