Found in Alabama at old home ca.1860. It is copper 15/16 dia. and bowl shaped. The twisted wires on each side form a J shape hook. Thank you for your help!

Looks like a clasp for a shawl, or something similar. I think the J-hooks would run side-to-side. Any chance you can post a few other pictures, perhaps showing both sides? Even though you specified the size, it's also nice to see the object in context with a ruler, or something of known dimensions. It gives you better size perspecitve in relation to the markings on the object.
