Well I just found out it whistles when you blow into it.....one low pitch the other high pitch....it plays like a flute when different holes are covered

I don't think it's real old, but a tourist item made in mexico or someplace in central america. I can't find that one but, here's one listed for sale that looks like it's made with the same technique and in the shape of a toucan. They think it's a rooster . Yep, and it's awesome! I've got a toucan and an armadillo, but your gator is more detailed. I find them inexpensively at garage sales - one is marked costa rica '94 by the tourist who bought it. If you ebay, someone who collects gator stuff would love it. So would any noise-loving munchkin you know.
