That's interesting. Silver and nickel don't usually register the same, and it doesn't look like either.

I don't know with one really Ithaca a real stong tone and my detector was on low trash setting

I see you're new here. Always give as much info as you can. The numbers that your machine gives you are usually right unless it is something odd! If that is covered with dirt it could be aluminum, if it is rust it could be iron? When in doubt always see if a magnet to it. Welcome to Tnet !

I find these amorphous blobs all the time. They're really light and they always seem to have this pale crusty almost crystalline residue and your right they ring like a bell when you pass over them.
Id love to know what these are.
