This ring is one of my recent detecting finds on the beach after hurricane Matthew. Can anyone make out what letters are on it or possibly date it by the writing?

Nice find
odd that the ring is not closed and the ring is stamped 10 K
you can see it in the pic

it's a monogram of the letter 'M'. the ring looks pretty old. Personally, I believe it dates to somewhere around 1900-1920

I agree it's a letter and the ring is quite old fashioned. At first I thought overlapping letters but now I see the 'M'. It's been waiting for a long time for a big storm to uncover it. Nice find! :icon_thumright:

to me it looks like a n
the other lines are all (minor) thin
Ring 2.webpRing.webp
however a small n doesn't really make sense to me
unless there is no such thing as small and caps when it comes to fancy lettering :tongue3:
& I really doubt it's index - Copy (2).webp and Fraternity related. on its own

I suppose M is possible but I would think there would be one more wide line then .

other Option I see when I decrease Size Ring.webp

The ring was re-sized and the solder joint broke. I've found several rings like this.
