What is your most memorable coin roll find?

Mine would be:
pennies: Indian head penny and 3 wheats same roll,
Nickels: 1904 V back and a dateless buffalo same roll, another time: 1936 buffalo nickel and a 45s war nickel
Dimes: Nothing memorable
Quarters: Nothing memorable
Halves: 3x 40% and a 1942 Walking liberty(my first).

A tie between my solid roll of Merc's right before Easter, and my half-dollar score of 10 90%'s and 59 40%'s in January (including a '69 Kennedy clipped planchet).

HH,
cuttybce

My most memorable find was a roll where I got two Barber and four Liberty halves.

Mine was solid roll #2 of 5 solid silver dime rolls. The first one was sheer amazement, but the second one brought about the thought, holy crap I still have another 20 rolls to go!

About 6 months back on the way to work I scored a 19 40% halves and 1 90%. I had just enough time to cross the street and a teller just had this old large dollar coin. I rarely asked for bid dollars, luck I did that time.

My finds are pretty mundane compared to most of you here:

1. I got a Peace dollar one day out of a teller tray. I was stunned to say the least.

2. Finding a single Merc in a dime roll. I know many here have found solid rolls of them, but I still can't believe I found a Merc.

3. Getting a Ben in a box!!!!!

Boring and old hat to most of you all here, but I am still excited when I think about these finds!

Nothing mundane about finding a peace dollar at a bank. My most memorable find was the half dollar roll I found with 3x90% and 6x40%. I also cheered out loud when I found a 1903 Indian head cent.

Sadly it wasn't my find, but imagine being me in this instance...... In the early 90's I was working at a gas station as the 2cd shift clerk. I walked in one fine afternoon, wishing I could be anywhere but there, and my buddy who worked first shift (and happened also to collect coins) says to me "You'll never believe this". I said I probably would expecting a big mess in the bathroom or some of the other usual chaos. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a roll of silver quarters!!!!!! As I remember it was mostly Washingtons, and a few SLQs. Some idiot had brought them in about ten minutes before I got there and spent them on gas and cigarettes!

We both figured "STOLEN!" but he talked to some of the cops we knew, and no one had reported anything, so they were all his. That was the one and only time I wished I had shown up early to that job
:-\

I have 3 most memorable,

My first Barber half, found early on in a customer roll.

My first 1970-D, the only half at a small bank inside Walmart.

Key date 1938-D Walker

Hopefully this isn't to off subject, but after reading one of the posts above, it reminded me of this and i thought i should share. Wasn't my find (sadly). It has to be top #1 best find i have ever heard of. So the gas station attendant by my house was working late one night and a couple people come in with an old gold looking coin, says $20 bucks on it. They were asking, "can we use this coin, is it worth 20 bucks"? Now this man is a very honest, integrous man, (he had no idea what this was at this point), he was intrigued by the coin enough that he was willing to "take the chance" so to speak, figuring that he would just buy it from the register, just in case it was not worth 20 or what have you. Well, he started looking at it, and the couple pulls two more out of there pocket, and ask, do you want to buy these two as well? He was hesistant but curious so he decided to just buy one, ???!!! He goes home later (with the two 20 dollar gold coins and does a little research).... What????? $1500 a piece?. At this point the man is thinking wow, they probably stole them from grandpa or robbed someone or something, so he went to the police station, tried to turn them in, the cops got all of his info, said if they are not reported stolen within 30 days... they would be his to keep. Needless to say, he got to keep them, he still kicks himself daily for not buying the third one...... Pretty crazy stuff happens out there, ignorance can be very very costly.

Hope it isnt to off subject. I think it is a pretty neat story, couldnt have happened to a nicer guy.

Mine was a 1851 large cent i got in a bag of halfs and a 1907 barber half. happy hunting to all ron

Mine would be the 1858 flying eagle penny in a penny roll and the 6 solid rolls of silver rosies

Another one of my most memorable finds was my first buffalo nickel! Sadly the date was worn pretty good so all I could make out was a 19_3s
