Dug this today.
It's a coin yes, but what kind?
I've done nothing to the coin but brush the dirt off.
It even came out of the ground with a dig mark in it .. bummer .. bent too!
Anyhow, the year is 1856
Some letters i read are LEON III, that's above his head to the left
The guy on the front does have a beard hanging down
Can't read anything on the back .. but i can see an eagle ..
The last picture is for size purposes.

Thank You for the help

update:
I can see a B mint mark on the back under the eagle
i've added a picture

Its a France 5 Centimes if its 28mm, the B is for Rouen Mint, its bronze and around the obverse it reads: NAPOLEON III EMPERUR with date at bottom. Reverse reads: at top: EMPIRE FRANCAIS & AT BOTTOM : CINQ CENTIMES. OVER 14 MILLION MINTED with a catalog price in fine condition of $2. If its 31mm, its a 10 Centimes, same value.

Pocket Change, Thank you.

so are you saying that the eagle is the front of the coin?
Because the date is on the side with the guys head. under that
The coin measure's just over an inch.
