Looks like a good guess- fossil fish in limestone. I am an invertebrate guy so fossil fish are a question mark for me. Take it to a university Geology Department that has a vertebrate paleontologist for a look see. I am sure no one here has a clue- or "How many vertebrate paleontologists visit TN"?

A really great find in my book and get it looked at by an expert

HI Baker , invertebrate eh?? You certainly will find many interesting specimens in here heheheheeh

Seriously, I agree with you.

Tropical Tramp

What state was this found in? Nice fossil. How big is it?

Great, find would you like to sell this specimen?Looks to be limestone,A simple test could tell you if it is indeed limestone, drop a few drops of vinegar on and if it fizzes and bubbles , it is limestone. We would be interested in buying this fossil

not show.

Fantastic Fish Fossil Find!

Well after three commented on this- I deserve the ribbing. My MS thesis was a study of invertebrate fossils.

I'm no expert but it kind of looks like a baby celocanth( hope I spelled that right) as I said I'm no expert!
Zootman

Spelled coelacanth.I thought that at first but I can't see enough detail to tell.Iwas also thinking it could be a knightia fish fossil.
