What kind of Garnet

Another Grandpa find.
I know he told me garnet but can not for the life remember what he said.
The stone on the left is in the rough and needs to be worked. The lil stone on the right was faceted (is how he called it) and ready for a ring. Unfortunately do to his storage and unsafe handling there is a chip.
None the less you can see the color

You can't tell the type of garnet merely from colour or pictures.

I believe that the O.P. has Pyrope Garnets! I literally have hundreds, maybe even thousands of them.

I believe it is a Grossular red garnet, I just found a green grossular garnet yesterday, while researching I saw a similar one to what you have there, huntsman may be on money too, research both see what happens.
