I found at a dozen of these musical reeds in the same area several Indian Head pennies dating 1870’s to early 1900s
I’ve also found Harmonica and a few pump organ reeds.
-Site is California river bank heavily used in gold rush era.

I'm wondering if that might be an early pitch pipe. Kratt , Hohner ( trutone) & probably other companies produced them

I once found a pile of reeds like those , mine had some identifying marks on them for a German pump organ
