Hello so I was out rock picking in the farm fields before tilling and happened to stumble across this really neat looking rock with what looks almost like a layer or green glass covering parts of it, also has very dark green vanes running through it.

I'd like to agree with you but I have seen slag before and this does not to my knowledge look like slag, also no factories or rail line present day or past in the area. This was found south of Ottawa Ontario. The green glass like stuff is only a few MM thick and easily chips off, it is also very smooth one side. Definitely NOT a meteorite.

I agree with Rific. Without additional evidence, I believe it is slag.

It almost even looks like some old type of construction material...show us a fresh slice of a side view or a good break of the interior to have a better say whether it is or not. IMO not

What about a big enough meteorite to cause rocks to melt ? and thats the aftereffect.

Probably a rock that's gotten a glaze from high heat or some sort of ceramic that's been glazed. I can't quite tell what the base-material is that the glaze sits on.

Not sure myself but another possibility is that there may have been a burn pile in the area at one time where the farmer burned off some rubbish and trash and that stone may be coated with something from it. The base rock looks like granite and the glaze material flowed onto it. Some evidence of pooling in picture 2.
