I tried posting this earlier, but it somehow got lost in neverland. :D

This is off-topic. My son attends Eastern Ky. University in Richmond, Ky. He was supposed to be hard at work studying (yeah right). He had just got his truck out of the shop a few days earlier. He came home with his truck looking like it does in the pics below. His friends told him that a Dodge truck could not go through a creek and up a very steep hill. Of course, my son had to prove them wrong. He blasted through the creek and up the hill. He said that at one point he thought that the truck was going to do a 180 and come sliding back down. He eventually made it up the hill and won the bet. The only problem was he forgot to wash his truck off before he came home. His mother saw it and told him that she would kick his rear-end if he tore his truck up doing something stupid. I just turned my head and tried not to laugh because I remembered a lot of things that I did while in college. He still has a lot to learn. He said "Mom, I figured out what my major is going to be." "I'm going to major in girls and minor in beer!" After that statement, I didn't know if I should protect him from his mother or tell him that he was on his own! ;D

She walked off muttering something about us driving her crazy... ;D

I forgot to mention that he is a good student though. He has a 3.56 GPA and is majoring in Paramedicine (Paramedic) and minoring in Firefighter Technology. He is already a volunteer firefighter and EMT with the Jessamine County Fire Dept. here in Nicholasville. He is certified as Firefighter 1 & 2, Swift water rescue, HAZMAT (He's been on a couple of meth lab busts), along with other certifications. I'm very proud of him. He just likes to aggravate his mother sometimes. ;D

Thats funny ,I can relate to that, been their and done that.Good luck to your son.

You should tell him that, he should only beat his truck like that, getting you back to good artifact hunting spots. ;)

Thanks T-Bucket! There was no guesswork to what he wanted to do as an occupation. He loves being a firefighter and EMT. He can't wait to graduate and make it up to paramedic. He's already worked some really bad car wrecks and really bad house fires. I thought the car wrecks would change his mind, but he said that it was something that he would have to get used to.

He tells me about some of the things that go on in the dorms and I laugh, because 23 years ago, the same things were going on when I went to college! It's definitely an experience!

Good luck!

Absolutely! We took his truck to a local car wash to clean it up. Well, he cleaned and I supervised since he was the one who muddied it up. Big clods of mud were falling out from under the truck. You could have planted seeds in what fell out. I saw something that caught my eye in one of the clods. It was a piece of flint! It was just a fragment, but I got a grin on my face and showed it to my son. He said "You've got to be kidding me!". "I guess you want me to pull my truck up so that you can look for arrowheads!" ;D

Good luck!

EKU ROCKS!

Your son could not have picked a better school. It's good to see that he has "Kentucky" in him! Sounds like a normal feller!

Jessamine County Fire Dept. is where I did my EMT training years ago. Good place to learn.

Amazing.

Also amazing how many of us survived considering all the risks we took as kids. I should have died a half dozen times.

Hey Cavers5! I really like EKU. They have some really good programs there. My son really likes it. He says that it is amazing how much equipment they have and the new techniques they are teaching.

Good luck!

Hey Jbot! Kind of a "small world"! They really put a lot of emphasis on training. Chief Rupard seems to have done a good job with them. The officers make sure that the firefighters know exactly what they are doing before they let them go out on any fire runs. It makes you feel a little better when the toner goes off. You at least know that your son has had the best training around.

Good luck!

Hey Billco! My dad tells me all the time that he was glad to get me through my teen years. And that was with the stupid things I had done that he knew about! ;D It's amazing how much marriage with a newborn later on will tame most people! ;)

Good luck!

Hey, as a college student with a high GPA, I know what it takes to get the grades. Tell mom to cut him some slack, sometimes you've just got to blow off some steam. Besides, like you I can remember doing some stupid things when I his age, it's part of growing up. Razor

Just tell mom that "He is all boy". Thats the way we are! If we were girls, we would be explaining how we spent $200.oo on one dumb outfit!! With that said....Gittr' Gittr'!!! 8) 8)

Hey Razor! I've been telling her that he is young, single, and pretty much out on his own. He is living it up at college like he should be! You can't study 24/7. I figure as long he is getting good grades and not getting hurt or in trouble, more power to him. I had a blast when I was in college and still maintained good grades.

Thanks for posting!

Hey Johnny Ringo! If he's not muddin' in the truck, he is either fishing or hunting. He and I both love the outdoors.

I've got a daughter who is a high school cheerleader and loves to shop. But what freaks everybody out is she will walk a mile just to cast a spinner bait in a pond or stream to hopefully "lock horns" with a largemouth or smallmouth bass. She also loves to shoot skeet and target shoot with rifles at the local range. Her favorite is my AR-15. I started her out at a young age fishing and she grew to love the outdoors also. I laughed one day when she showed her boyfriend how to clean the AR-15 and then "lock and load". His expression was priceless! He was probably thinking "Lord please don't let me tick her off!!" ;D

Good luck!

Hey Jeff! I know what you mean! My son was a little apprehensive when he was getting ready for his first semester of college. I told him that I would give anything to go through college again! Especially knowing what I know now! I went to Morehead also for a couple of years. I was there from '84 to '86. Man, what a fun time I had! I ended up coming back to Lexington to finish college.

Good luck Bud!
