What On Earth Is This

I found this item in Luxembourg (Western Europe.)
It is made of either copper or some sort of copper alloy.
I have found other items dating back to the 1600s in the area.
It looks super old and interesting but I have no idea what it could be. There is some sort of pin/nail hammered through at the bottom (seen on picture 3.)
Any help is appreciated.

Kinda resembles part of a door knocker or maybe a door pull?

the single post at one end suggests it may be an early key hole cover based on the shape of the object and the smallish size
