What Rock ?

Hi my names Sven , I have a rock it weighs 6kilos it's about 25cm x 18cm x 15cm it's slightly magnetic and it*smells.It*has sparkling flecks all over it . .found in Northern N.S.W Australia.*

What does it smell like? It looks a lot like Basalt.

It smells like a wet old bbq ..have you got some pics of similar looking basalt ?

Is it coal? Or coal tar? You didn't give us much info, as to where you found it. Looks like it was in a river bed. Is it soft, hard, can you chip it with a hammer? It has an amorphous form, no layers, more like a gob of something. You already know what it is, and you're just messing with us?

I just found out ,It chips with a hammer ?? I have no clue mate ! I got this out of a boot of a car .The fresh chip is a lot lighter than when I ground it which has darkened over the last week .
