What sort of button is this and what is on it?

A friend of mine found this button the other day.

Any info would be great. It looks like a sporting button, but I can't make out the creature on the front. There's a glass? eye that remains in tact. Also, the back is pretty cool.

I'd say sportmens type, a dog, and what you call the glass eye is actually his nose. He's just giving you a sniff.

I find it interesting that the gun and rifle on back are from two differant eras.Best guess would be hunt club hat or lapel pin.

Weird!! Archery Button? It looks like bows and arrows but the other things look like rifles?? Is that writing on the inner part of the button?

The word on the inner part of the button def say's sport or sporting, then there's another word on the other side, can't make it out... I don't know what that is on the front... Dog??

Perhaps given to the guy that is a deadeye shot on clay pigeons , who shot his dog!
