What the heck is this?

Found this detecting an area near an old farm house. No idea what it is or what it was used for. Figured I'd ask the experts on T-Net. Thank you!

You didn't mention the size, but it looks like it might have been a lighting fixture with a pull chain where the little grommet thing on the side is

Thank you all. I didn't see anywhere anything would attach to it besides the little grommet.

Could be a pot metal lamp base too. The grommet would be where a push button would be located. It kind of has an Art Nouveau look to it. Here's a link. It does look like those, but the top/tip of it is solid. There is no opening like in the pictures.
And the bottom looks like it was solid too, no real opening there to go over something.

It looks about the same size as the pictured items. It feels like it's made of a light metal, aluminum maybe.
