Fast nickle, slow dime ... I have a few vintage brooches that sit and sit and sit. One is a 10K Carl Art brooch, 4.6 grams I paid $25 for it. I can scrap and double my money. The second is that "lovely" Mikimoto brooch that I can not sell!!! I've listed and listed and listed. It weighs over sixteen grams. I paid $42, and can make close to $400 scrapping. The thing is, with both of these brooches, it is making me sick to scrap a vintage brooch. Oh yeah, and I found another one for $18. It's really a lovely piece with tons of work in it. From the '60s. No one has seen it. I don't know if I should run it for a few weeks, set it aside, or what.

My CC bill is paid, so it's not like I am desperate for the money. I am just getting tired of seeing the listing and no one looks at it.

WWYD? continue to list or give up and scrap?

If you dont need the money, keep listing it. It doesnt cost you anything. Specialty items like that you are just waiting for the right buyer. I have had items sit for a year and then one day sell for full asking price out of the blue.

It is not that uncommon for unusual items to sit until the right person sees it. I had one book listed for over a year, (free listings) till the right person saw it.

I would say that since jewelry seems to be a little slow in January, keep relisting it until after tax season is over. You may get that big bite from someone who has a little extra money or needs a very unique last minute valentines present. You may get that big return it rightfully deserves.
