Many have luck and bring up an assortment of items that have spent some time in the water. A good portion of what we find has been tools like pliers, multi tools, knives, and such. The condition of these items is very often rusty. I have found another Home Depot/Lowes product that will probably help many of us that pitch the magnet and also those who swing the detector. The product is "Zep Calcium Lime Rust remover sold in the paint department. Chronically rusted items don't work but those who have mild to moderate rust on the tools recovered it works great. It will also remove the tarnish off those old penny's that we all have from our metal detecting finds bag that do not have the dates to keep and need to be somewhat clean to turn in to the bank. Cost for this chemical is about $9 a gallon, so it will fit well into many of our budgets. Give it a try and report back here with your results.
