Hi.

Found it today. I have no clue, what is it...?
It is small and delicate, does anybody know what might it be used for?
Probably, made of brass. Silver plated.
Please, help me with ID of this item.

I'm to lazy to convert millimetres for inches, so I enclose pics with a dime and AA battery.
Item weight is 5.4g - it's a bit lighter than half dollar coin.

The first thing that comes to my mind is the obvious, roach clip. But it appears to be a cotter pin with a holder added, so we can assume it was probably meant to hold something. Perhaps a part of a drafting tool set? Other than that I have no other guesses.

It appears to be a clamp for something thin and either not very wide or for only a short way in from the edge. First thing that comes to mind is for forming buttonholes in cloth.

In making sewn button hole edgings the intended edge is sewn for reenforcement before then the fabric is cut.

I think you are close to the right anwser.

It's to delicate to make button holes.
Maybe in silk, only.

Besides, it has a ring which closes this mechanism.
I suppose that using this, user needed both hands free.
Button hole can be made with one hand and sharp blade i the other hand.

I agree with Charlie and DG - it appears to be made to clip to the edge of a fabric.
Maybe for weighting, or suspending, or just holding (stretching?) while the fabric is worked on?

a old wire screen door or window edge tool to seal the edging with ---there is a "groove" on the screened area that is filled by a wire (rubber today) to hold the "screening" in place-- the tool is used to "push" the wire into the groove" thus seat it in place ---the wheel has a "groove" in it in and the wire "rides" in it while doing this---anyone ever "rescreened" a screen door? Looks like a ponce wheel to me. For marking fabric cuts. Wheel would have held charcoaled thread.
So I guess it goes along with the other guesses.

It's a clip for buckling up trousers while riding on a bicycle.
Is dated before World War 2.

Looks like a pendulum to an old clock.The adjuster would slide up or down to get the seconds correct.Just a guess..

I think it is a watch fob attachment. You put the the center protrusion through a button hole, the ring locks it in then the fob is attached to the lower part.
