Found a lead weight in the woods the other day. Just wondering how old it might be and what it was used for. It weighs 6.3 ounces, so I don't think it's a measuring weight. But it does have a iron hook for hanging, so I may be wrong. Any input would be appreciated.

Could be a decoy weight. It was near swampy area. I'll have to look into that possibility. Thanks!

If it's a magnesium alloy, there's a possibility it's an anode for a cathotic control for a boat or metal structure. But I'd put my money on a decoy anchor.
