What would this bowl be made of? It Glows!

I didn't have this but the edge of it flakes if you rub it. Marble wouldn't do that would it?

Quite possibly, if it had been varnished to give it a more polished look.

Another possibility is onyx.

Yet another, alabaster (Plaster of Paris) that's been varnished.

I still think it's marble, though.

Are you sure it isn't carved from alabaster. That's what I am inclined to believe it is made from.

...alabaster is a stone, plaster is a gypsum powder...yes they are both gypsum...so do you think this bowl was a cast piece as opposed to a carved out one?
