What would you use to find primary targets of large iron?

Yes, looking for deep iron. Would you use the regular "relic" mode?

i always run a hot program. I do not notch anything out and set my disc. at 1. so I still here the low tone iron signals.
today while relic hunting I dug a some low tones with the VDI reading from 1 to 5. I dug the usual nails and wire. but was really surprised
when I dug a 6" artillery shell piece.
