Hello! I'm new! I love digging things up. I have two kids who love to collect rocks and dig up the backyard. Speaking of the backyard, my husband and I are digging up the grass to make way for a kinder, friendlier, drought tolerant yard. (aka we are gonna fill it with a bunch of rocks. Win/Win) We have found lots of garbage, a few rusted old toy cars, broken dishes, and today....thanks to discovering this place and doing other research, we found either a case shot or ball bearing (which seems to hilariously, the answer to a lot of "what is this" postings.) It could be a rock for all I care because the kids are so excited! We made sieves and everyone is digging, looking for more fun things! I got a metal detector as a surprise coming tomorrow.) I'm in Pasadena, CA. I have my mother's collection of old bottles, several drawers all over the house of 'rock collections, and a few other odds and ends. Anyhoo, this is all to say I am excited to be here.
Thanks!
Biz

Hi, Biz. Welcome to the forum. Sounds fun! How did the surprise go?

I have learned...and should have remembered...that things I am convinced the kids will think cool....never has that effect. I on the other hand have had endless fun.

Haha, what's cool in today's generation?

Welcome to the forum. Great introduction.
Your enthusiasm, curiosity, and excitement will be infectious and a driving force for them. Even today my kids will say "Hey Dad, look at this!" And they are in their 30's!
