Brass/ball horn covers oxenstore.com
I was wondering if anyone could tell me what those metal balls are called that some folks
put on their oxen's horns. I've search the internet for over an hour and can't find a thing!
I looked at Berrybrook Ox Supply,... oxenstore.com where they call them horn knobs. They also
sell horn weights and all kinds of great stuff for oxen people.
They are called horn knobs, ox knobs or any of several names depending on who you talk to.
I agree--not much on the internet. Very seldom seen on eBay. There are at least two stores
here in Maine that carry them along with Scrutons Ox Supply in New Hampshire.
A search on Google for "oxen horn knobs" turned up this likely culprit.

Nobs or Nubs. Older ones were cast, and threaded or not. Some had a hole straight through.
You cut off whatever horn stuck out through. Newer ones are lathed. Threaded with tapered or
stepped threads. Some have lead, or rhinestone inserted in the tips.
