old "steamer trunk" for carrying your stuff on a steamship trip overseas (europe)--- they were called that due to there heavy use for that purpose --it a travelling trunk / suitcase-- late 1800 very early1900 era time frame most likely --- as with many things in life -- $$$ value is as much as they will pay for it and as little as you will accept for it . --- when the two side meet thats "your price"--- so its hard to price out someone elses deal. --- Ivan
Yes Ivan I know, though someone could have an idea of what I could get for it someone offered 200 Swedish kronor thats about 32 US dollars. Which did not seem like a good deal for me.
humm Union Superme early maker of wardrobe tunks early 1900's*** looks good to me --- US trunk company --new york --- the other US listed is a mass produced el cheapo "fiber" trunk out of mass and chicago .
Here's a 1948 U. S. Trunk Company Luggage Ad; looks like it might cost $6 to get a readable copy that might then tell you the address, etc. of the U. S. Trunk Co.
Eu...
Yes, I had noticed that site before--and the image of the U.S. Trunk Co. was different there than the mark on your trunk. I also noticed that the inner wall of the trunk has 'ridges' on either side that probably supported an inner 'tray'. What I'm hoping is that you have that inner tray and might be able to then locate a company label either on the tray or elsewhere on the trunk.
You may wish to also contact the eBay seller I referenced and ask that person for the U.S. Truck Company address that is probably on the ad page he is selling.

states: Mr. Campos was employed as a supervisor FOR 49 YEARS (my emphasis) by the former U.S. Trunk Co. until he retired in 1979. Funny, that with a 'modern' company being in existence for at least 49 years that so little seems to be mentioned about it on the Internet.

and inquire if Pat Morris is still with them. He knows about the US Trunk Company of Fall River, Mass.
Also, a wild guess is the first numbers represent the year (19XX) and the next three represent the sequence of manufacture for either that trunk type of their entire line.
