What's it animal skull...I think..

Came across this near a washout area in the woods today...the pics of it are just the way I found it..any idea on what kind of animal?....

Looks like the top portion of a deer skull with the horns cut off.

Woops! Size of a softball. There goes Bovine as baby Bovines don't have horns. Deer might have to go also as they have antlers that are shed each year and have a "burr" around the base. I'm switching over to Marty-Graw and his Goat guess. Pictures included may help. Skulls are both collectible and sellable so haul em'home when you find them.

That heart would jist be a coincidental shape in some liken.
As far as the skull goes. I'm afraid that due to it's size now i am gonna hafta recind my bovine guess and sadly say that it appears that Hercs' little buddy Newt has finaly met his demise in copperheads' washout.

I would guess a goat. It is definetly not a deer or a cow. I really don't think it is a sheep either. Sheep start with very small horns.

Definitely deer. I have a few deer skulls hanging on my wall that are the size of softballs as stated as the one in the photo. They are spikes or forkhorns.
Mice and porcupines will chew on a dead deers antlers and will stop at the bony part of the skull where the antler was attached.
