Tesoro's (many- 7-8)
I also have the Vaq. I don't have the 5.75 concentric but I do have the 5.75 widescan. I have found this to be true between by 5.75ws and 9x8 concentric.

1. Widescan is stable with high sens setting. I can bury my sens with the widescan, the concentric is more unstable and I have to back it off. Contrary to many posts, senitivity matters (in discrimination mode) and the higher you go the deeper the signal you can sense, the problem is instability.

2. I havent found any appreciable difference in depth even though many say the concentric goes deeper in non-mineralized soil. I have done testing in sand and found that my 9x8 has very little improvement over my 5.75 WS. Im not sure why the larger coil doesn't have much superiority over the smaller coil except maybe the size of the object matters to the depth capability of the larger coils.

3. Itis claimed by detectorists that the concentric has better target seperation and it also has better discrimination. I cant speak to the first belief but the second one I can give you the following observation.

I detected an object with my 5.75 ws. The object was attempting to disc but it gave a good enough signal to be questionable. I put the 9x8 concentric coil on and read the same object. I got a nice signal in both directions with no attempt to disc the object. When I dug the object it was a pull tab. I never changed any setting except GB since the different coils need GB when changed.

I hope this helps your decision. Myself, I havent gone back to concentric since trying the widescan. I have no problem pinpointing like so many others seem to have with it. Its a different animal and must be treated accordingly.
