The parking fees here on the west coast of Florida keep going up.

St. Pete Beach is $2.50 an hour. Clearwater is going up, all of it is climbing yearly. There are a couple of spots left at $1.50 an hour, but they won't last much longer and are getting hard to find.

Just about every non metered spot at a hotel, restaurant or private property is posted. The contract tow trucks salivate at the opportunities available to tow...

I see people parking at shopping centers and walking a couple of blocks to the beach, so it's getting hard to find those spots now as well.

Is it just us, or is everyone getting to feel the pain?

I park for free all over Fla. I have a handicap permit

GIB... Ya gotta know where to park for free. :)

For example... on Clearwater Beach... I do not park in the lots... I go north or south and park on the side and back streets.
Sure it is a walk... but if with someone drop gear and your someone off at sand and go park.
This not only avoids the paying of a meter but gives you ALL day if you want.
No meter parking for me ever.
Knowing the ways around these meters is part of detecting for me.
Now... this only is effective at early AM... which is the ONLY time I go to ANY sand anymore.

I will add... that bck in the day the old parking lots were compressed dirt with sand prior to the new lots...
The meters stood in a pile of sand with grass and sand spurs around the pole of the meters...
this was perfect...
I would get ot of car and detect the meter bases... easily gathering the parking fees within 10 mins and pocket the rest :)
Bu those days are gone.

Early AM and MDing go together like peanut butter and jelly.

$3 today, paid by credit card only in a machine.

The side streets in St. Pete Beach require a resident permit to park on the street. There are signs everywhere, and they do enforce.

It's how they force people into the parking lots.

It doesn't cost me a cent i'am handicapped, I can find a handicap spot or meter, the meter were allowed 4 hr parking at a meter, then I can go to another one and do the same, other than that it would cost me a a lot of money also, I don't like the part of being handicapped but it's getting tougher.HH

All these stories bring tears to my eyes, but then again I just paid $42 to park for three hours in Boston, and you can' even detect on Boston Commons.

$10.00 a day or season pass for $85.00 where I go.

Totally free in my local beach.

Most beach parking lots here in San Diego are free. The exceptions are State Beaches which are on average $8 per day, and parking meters in some areas and some adjacent towns. Their rates vary and some allow all day or hourly pay. Most of the meters are in commercial areas which you can understand. The businesses need to have parking for their customers. Residential areas are usually free. You can usually get a yearly parking pass for the State Parks. The senior rate isn't too bad. If you can get a handicap plate or plaque, parking is usually free just about everywhere there is a marked space.
Do you have a Park N Ride close? We used to park at the one by Fascist Island up in Newport and ride the bus to Laguna or the peninsula, and ask for a transfer for the trip back. The Park N Ride had OCTD transit cops watching the cars so your car was safe. Was like $1 for the day and we never had our cars broken into unlike the State lot down between Corona & Laguna.

Might be a good idea for other states that have them!

I use the Park and Ride lots for meeting up with my hunting buddies, but, none of them are close enough to the beach here in San Diego for us to use them as a destination.

I pay $0 at all my beachfront locations which go for $1.50 to $5.00 per hour...

That's a bummer! Start a partition to get a route that follows all your favorite beaches!

In mass state parks day use fee is 10$. I think. 60$ for a state wide season pass. It has a few places that are excluded. 10$ is pretty expensive. So I usually pay the 60$ and just get a season pass.

Hampton beach in nh is 2$ an hr during summer and 1$ an hour during winter. Mass is going to be doing a lot of "upgrades" to its facilities over the next few years. Unfortunately this translates into 30 million of sand dumped on a beach, reduction of parking lot size, among other things. And guaranteed a hike in fees and a sophisticated system to charge you.

Remember, it's Massachusetts. There is an activity fee associated with everything.

With all the free parking at the beach, why would I need to fight for a park and ride lot?

$25-$35 a day in a town lot, $50 for a parking ticket and I would hate to pay for a tow. Yet only $35 a year for a town residents sticker. Only wish they would sell an island wide sticker, not just a town sticker.
