Many of us go to the bank and purchase boxes of coin with cash for several reasons.

I am curious to know how you pay for your boxes. Good banks or bad banks.

When I buy boxes, I try to stick with $20 and $50 bills. I do not use $100 bills because even though banks have counterfeit money detectors, the risk is not worth it. I also like to pay in $50 and $20 bills because they are not too large and not too small at the same time(compared to $100 bills).

I do however, have to get rid of some smaller bills($1, $5, and $10 bills)... I might have to start using them.

Share your transactions monetary wise with us, what kind of bills do you prefer?

Also, I like getting $20 and $50 bills because when you're getting back $1,000 cash, I can check for older series bills.

HH everybody!

I deal with a strict 'whatever is easiest for you' policy. If they ask, I always reply with that (when dumping coin).

Then I always use that money for buying new coins. Typically it is 100s as that's the easiest way to count out 1000+ dumps, and, for me its the best way to buy 4000 in half dollars(my typical pick up)

I give and recieve 100's only. They double run my money through the cummins jet sort so I am confident there is no funny money. I don't collect bills so I am all about efficiency and wallet space!

+1

My pickup banks will run it through the auto counter anyway.

"$100's please" then I follow it up with my lame joke, "I dont want to develop back problems you know?"

I am OCD about reconciling so $100's are the quickest way for me. Plus, sitting on $1000's in 20's is no fun. Did that in the beginning.

I forgot to mention the "whatever's easiset policy", I always tell the bankers $50's or $20's are fine. I usually get 50's, but yesterday, got $20's.

It would appear as though you are forgetting the $2 bill.

$100s or bust for me. I was once given 10s and 20s. I couldn't fit it all in my wallet.

One of my branches will give me whatever they can spare the most. I once left there with $4000 in 10s. Why put it in your wallets? Easier to just put it in an envelope or in that case leave the paper wraps around it.

Interesting question, I have never thought of it because I am strictly a 100's guy. It only takes 2+boxes and anything but 100 dollar bills is going to cause scoliosis. NOt only that, but 100's are easiest... and thirdly, I dont think there is much of a risk for counterfit bills just because all of the money I use to buy my boxes, came from the bank yesterday when I dumped a truckload of halves on some unsuspecting, frowny-faced, googly-eyed teller who got an attitude as soon as she saw me enter the bank with a billion coins for her to "deal with".....

It does make me want to ask though, have you ever found any good bills from searching through them like that? (old, error, collectible?)

I normally write a check when I pick up my halves (normally two boxes). I dump at my CU, and deposit that money, usually, in my checking account. It's a never ending cycle.........

I did not forget the $2 bill, nobody in America really uses them. I have some, but I don't get them regularly in change. Some people don't have a clue what a $2 bill is, or think they're worth millions.

The common bills for America are: $1, $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100.

Thanks for pointing that out though :D

I only buy with $5 bills. It's the only plate I've been able to replicate. :laughing9: :laughing9:

What denomination do I buy coin with? People really putting money into their wallets?

There is no way this is a real thread. Am I being punk'd? Where's the hidden camera? :icon_scratch:

Large bills. I would use $500 dollar bills if I could.

well, if you want the teller very mad...... Take $150.00 in quarters and ask for $150.00
in nickels.. LOL. that was at my bank . I don't care if they are mad.. I think Ill start dumping at that bank on a regular bases. The regions bank was a lot nicer even offered Ikes when I asked for halves. Found 3 jfk halves that i cant make the mint mark on the 1974 1981 and 1980. It looks like a D with the middle filled in but not sure. Also found a 2004 D in very good cond.

I just about can't stand not having about a grand in cash in my wallet... never know what you may run up on and want to buy... I'm a big time fan of $100 bills... takes up a lot less space in the wallet. I often wish $500 & $1000 bills were still printed and circulated.
