Curious what those folks were going after at a 10-kilometre [6.21mi] dive. Coke cans and Western debris runoff. I don't think so! The ROV was originally built in 2008 for 5 million usd. I'm sure they were able to recoup most of that money within 6 years of exploration, but regardless, that's one hell of a loss. Robot's undersea exploration ends in catastrophe

Hey Sea Green!! Good Point!! I heard they were looking for Alien Gold Deposits!! He He!! Anyway, GOOD LUCK and GOOD HUNTING!! VERDE!!

Hey Sea Green!! Glad to see you back on the TNET Forum!! By the way, did you ever figure out the Goober's name on your shoulder!! GOOD LUCK and GOOD HUNTING!! VERDE!!

"Its builder and operator, the US Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, said Nereus' mission was to undertake high-risk, high-reward research in the deepest parts of the ocean. "

''We'd just completed collecting a sea cucumber"

Those two statements are completely at odds with each other! Someone has DEEP pockets to use a $5M ROV to pick up sea slugs.

There seems to be a lot of deep pockets in this state!
What do you think they were really after?

I'm with Verde... Alien Gold Deposits.
It seems like either the slug or the ROV would be destined to explode on the way up...
"Slug to the decompression chamber, STAT."

Hey Sea Green!! THANKS, I knew I could count on your support!! Alien Gold It IS!! GOOD LUCK and GOOD HUNTING!! VERDE!!
