All Treasure Hunting
Hi All, My tranquillity of solitude and holy ground. Once Richard Oates and John Deason had their first claims in this gully . Later the finder of the Hand Faith ,Kevin Hillier started with his detector. Just couple of the more famous , there were more than 150 hard rock mines in this gully . Six mighty saddle quartz reefs cross the gully . Few millions of oz of gold came this single gully. These days not many other goldies come in this gully considered to junkie for the commonly used GPXS . Yep we all use GPX s in this part of Australia not a single VLF machine has been used at this location for over 20 years. So that would make me the last gold hunter of the gully and i like the site to myself. Always hard work in the un-natural geology chaos of mining madness for over a 100 years.1852-1954 . Plenty of relics and coins to be had too. Gold mines need miners which in turn means families . Lets gets started .

Bit about John Deason's family i can tell you . First wife Margrate nee Davey and his first 3 children can be found buried in the local grave yard . Bendigo Cemetery Trust seach engine. Richard Oates is buried at the Marong Cemetery few miles from this location. Second wife Katherine gave birth to a son 3 months before going to Muliagul . Son perished . Second child girl Grace Oates Deason . Grave remained unmarked for 92 years until his grand daughter Joan Burbridge nee Deason placed a memorial stone . Also cousins to Beer's and Ellis families.

tinpan, making sense out of chaos is not easy but it sure looks like you've been able to put things together as you've some great finds! I would think some of those coins are silver, yes/no? Best of continued success.....................63bkpkr
