Where is the gas cap ???

I would think folks should have noticed the little secret on your dashboard that was staring you in the face the whole time, I bet you didn't.
Have you ever rented or borrowed a car and when arriving at the gas station wondered...mmm, which side is the gas filler cap?
The normal solution was to stick your head out the window, strain your neck and look, try to see in the side mirrors or even get out of the car!
Well ladies and gentlemen, I'm going to share with you my little secret so you will no longer look like Ace Ventura on your way to the gas station or put your neck at risk of discomfort or injury.

If you look at your gas gauge, you will see a small icon of a gas pump?
The handle of the gas pump will extend out on either the left or right side of the gas pump?
If your tank is on the left, the handle will be on the left? If your tank is on the right, the handle will be on the right (see photo). It is that simple!

I learned that awhile back after driving several different vehicles and noting it matched up with the gas cap. I still wonder if I'm on the right side when I pull in to pump up though. Just absent-minded.

I don't think I have seen one in the back since the 1970s
There wasn't a fuel pump symbol on my old Roadrunner.

I posted this a couple of years ago BEFORE checking it out. I drive a toy car (Toyota)and the icon hose is on the right, but the tank is on the left. Maybe it's just for American made.

Thats some good info Old Dog.........the gas caps are on opposite sides on my suburban & my girls suburban & I can never remember which is which! This outa solve it for me. Thanx!

Even though this is not 100% true. I never see my gas icon. It only comes on when I low on gas which is 1/8 of a tank. Since I had my gas tank dropped to replace fuel pump and filter my gauge is off and if I get down to 1/4 tank of gas then I out of gas.
