Where to hunt in Scottsdale area?

Hey all,

Headed to Scottsdale for a couple of weeks ... gonna try some detecting for the first time ... where should i go?
Not looking for exact cooridinates, just general areas to hunt. For example, public lands or old homesteads or abandoned towns or ...

So really, that is my question ... how does one locate good places to hunt? Especially when out of your normal area.
