All Treasure Hunting
Hi everyone. I'm new here. Last year I got a decent metal detector and recently purchased a pinpointer. Just messing around in my yard I have found a lot of stuff--mostly just rusty nails and the like, but still fun!

My question is, what's the best place to go to find a good place to hunt? I live in NE Ohio and there are TONS of farms and open areas, but I have no idea what is worth my time, or where to start. Can anyone suggest an app, some online maps, or....anything else?

Thanks!

Welcome Aboard! Take a look at Forum:Ohio for information (i.e., clubs, etc.) directly related to your state.

Welcome to TreasureNet Kaysan. Try the library and look up the local history of places where people used to congregate or still do. Good luck!

Welcome. First, find a history of your county, then map out any spots you think might be good and then try to get a permission.

Welcome, all of it is worth some time. It was the wild west at one point and there is no telling where people went....or are still there. Research should help to narrow it down.

Welcome to the forum! :occasion14:

This may sound silly, but the good stuff is where it is. I was at my cousin's house yesterday and dug a pre 1850 livery button, a Civil War dragoon ball button and a busted Confederate local button. They should not have been there.

But weren't you glad they were there? Congrats to you on some nice saved CW History.

How would you suggest going about doing this? I know this seems like a dumb question.

If I go to the library, what should I ask for?

Are the websites that are great for mapping out good spots, where people used to congregate? Or any other resource?

Any tips appreciated!
