Wheres the silver?

its where ya find it and harder to find then pennies

Last weekend I found one silver dime, and one wheat penny. I found the silver dime first?

EODsweeper,
What machine? "hard time sniffing out the silver" does this mean you've found it before? How long have you used the machine, in hours? Do you know it well?

With my old 6000D the silvers made such a distinctive sound in the headphones that I usually knew it was silver just by the sound. If your machine has found them before then possibly you are on a classic slump. But, just in case I would test the machine by putting a small silver coin in the ground to see what the machine does...............63bkpkr

Yes I've found silver rings, and mercury dimes. I think I'm just in this slump you speak of. I'm running the garrett ace 250 and I know the machine pretty well. I really want to give a DD coil a try to see if I can get a little more depth from the machine, or upgrade machines as I realize its a beginner machine. For now I'm gonna switch back to my larger coil and see if it helps.

Different coils Do change the game some, good luck..............63bkpkr

Back in the 70's and 80's I know a lot of guys with detectors never even bothered to dig the penny signals, they were just interested in the silver and jewelry. I figure that is why my ratio is about 15 Wheaties to every silver.

That sounds like the likely problem. I mostly hunt public places too. I need to start getting out on some virgin land.

Ya man your just in a slump, don't sweat it, look for a few new places and you will be back on track in no time.

I put my 9" x 12" coil back on and got my Garrett master sound head phones in the mail today. Maybe the new setup will help? The headphones are way better if nothing else. Had to try them out for a few. So far so good.

Last year I was hunting a rather old elementary school and dug 26 wheats before I found the first silver. I eventually dug 8 more silvers and a total of 63 wheats. I knew it was there, just had to go slow, dig those iffy signals and not give up. HH, Tom

I hunted pretty hard these last two days and only found two silver dimes. A Roosevelt 63 and a 44 Mercury. Strangely I only found about five wheat pennies.

I know the drill. I found 4 wheats on Sun, and 2 yesterday. I feel that if I'm finding 1919 wheat cents I'm in the correct area? Just gotta be persistent I guess.

I hear you. Last couple of times out I got like 9 wheats, but no silver. I know it is still out there. That's why I will try again this weekend.

HH,

Pete

Get an advanced metal detector and search again at the places here you have hunted for silver before. Who knows you might get some more there with a better detector.

Keep at it I pulled a merc today.

I dug every bit of $5 in clad yesterday but nothing old. Gonna hit the Army base today.

Well today's treasure came in the form of brass. My scrap brass bucket just got full.
