Okay, i currently am using a BH LandRanger detector with the stock 8 inch coil, my question is, I will mainly be hunting for old coins or jewerly around old farmhouses etc, dating from 1870 to the 30's, My guess is the targets will be pretty deep over this many years, I would like to use a 10 inch magnum coil to get the max depth possible but these areas are also very trashy as far as old iron and such from the old farms, and pultabs and cans and the usuall stuff left behind over the years, but from what i read the 4inch coil that i also own will not go as deep as the bigger coils but will help weed thru the trash, Do you think i will be able to get enough depth with the little coil to find coins from that far back or should i use a big coil and just dig dig dig everything so not to miss the deep coins? Any help is very appreciated. thanks

Sounds promising

I'd start out with the stock coil. . . behind the house where the clothes line
would have been :icon_pirat:, and then spread out from there. After digging
your first couple of targets, you'll have a pretty good idea of how deep or
compacted the topsoil is and how far down the "good stuff" would likely be.
When I've hunted these types of sites, I've had success using the "stock"
coil in the open yard areas and the smaller coil when hunting along the edges
of the house foundation and front door area.

Obviously, sites may vary ;D

Good luck!
