I am selling my Minelab Safari. I have always wanted to own a Tesoro detector. Now I need to decide which model to purchase. I mainly hunt schools, parks, etc... I like having different tone id's and a visual id would be a plus but not required. If you could do it all over again, which model would you buy? I know some models have manual ground balancing, not sure if that's an issue or not. Any help would be appreciated.

A little more info. Where do you hunt? What kind of soil. Do you hunt relics or coin shoot? What price range?

The Cortes is a great detector that has proven itself in the U.S. as well as the U.K.

If you want more depth, go with the Vaquero or the Tejon. Both great relic machines.

I hate to say it here on the Tesoro site, but I've been hearing a lot about the Fisher F75. May be my next detector. Before you buy, check the Fisher forum and ask the same question. I think it is in the same price range as the Cortes.

Good Luck

I live in Florida, the soil is pretty good. I mainly coinshoot when I go detecting. I have my Safari up for sale. I have received a couple of offers this evening. I think I will sale the Safari and get a Cortes. I already have two Fisher detectors. I may trade someone for a good Tesoro. Thanks for the response.

I also am getting a Cortes I have the Tejon and it is a great detector I love the fact that it has no soft keys (computer menu) and a quick look lets me see all my settings. Anyway it is a really deep machine and easy to use and of course the lifetime warranty does not hurt. You really can not go wrong with a Tesoro they are like the Sherman tank of detectors!! R/Mike

You can't go wrong with either a Vaquero or Tejon. The Cortes is excellent and a cut above the normal. You can not beat the Lifetme Warranty either. Hate to bash Fisher, but since First Texas too them over they aren't the same and their lifetime warranty went out with the bath water.
