LOL about that bullet. I have found several over the years and in fact found a couple this past weekend at DIV. I'll be posting those tonight or tomorrow....Very good weekend we had..

Cool... maybe a ricochet that spun and hit backwards? Or it may be partly melted in a campfire?

Very unusual. Looks like someone got into a big hurry. Congrats......

I have handled , loaded and recovered thousands of bullets and I have to say this bullet was loaded backwards. I did it a few times myself just to see what it would do. Many rifles were recovered after Civil War battles with all kinds of misloaded bullets and powder. When your life depends on being able to load and fire about 3 shots a minute, you are prone to make mistakes. Monty

Have found several like that. Could have been loaded backward ot alot of times the just started to tumble in air and hit backwards. Cool find.

They also would fill canister shells with minnie balls or various lead or iron shot .Just a thought :icon_scratch:found some with base damaged as if it tumbled , if so the tip would be nicked. Any groves from barrel present??

look closely if theres no rifiling marks on its side from a "backwards loading" -- try thinking " nipple cover" --- to prevent damage to the nipple (so caps could go on and off easy ) and / or water from getting in on rainy days as you went along --every battle day wasn't warm and sunny -- and blackpowder hates dampness and water.
