i watched a video that showed how you pump up and down on a hot rock so the detector will not sound off on them. i didnt have any luck, have you guys tried this?? thanks brad

yes it does, but that was not what the video was about.this one shows a little.

May not help much however one or more of the videos talks about going slow and turning down the gain function if the 'Pump action' is not working correctly.

There should be both grunt and non-grunt sounds going on for any given gain setting for your ground.
There also may be so many hot rocks that the going will be real slow near volcanos / vents. Ground balancing will be hard to function the more hot rocks there are in general.

Here's an old video I made on it. You can tune hot rocks out some, but it's best to pump the coil over normal ground.
