Whites lower rods?

I know i have 3 different length whites lower rods between my goldmasters and XLT was goint to get atleast 1 more. Has anyone tried going to the tall man rod and eliminating the mid rod? i was thinking about trying this with the a small/med coil to reduce weight. im going to have to dig my tall rod out of storage next time go to check.
