Am new to the pulse induction detector why will it pick up coins but not jewelry won't give me any signal for my ring or necklace any advice will be helpful

I have the original Surfmaster PI. There are at least 3 versions. Mine has the pulse delay. I just set mine on the 2 presets and it picks up anything metal that is down there. Even fine gold chains and rings at 10"+. it's 13 years old and works as good as new.

. I think I have the same one bought it used with a diver rod and a 950 coil for $350 I have never used one before I had no luck air testing it so I'll set the presets and see what happens thanks for the help
