White's XLT for nuggets?

Yes, the XLT can be used for nugget hunting. Use the Prospecting Mode, turn the SAT speed to maximum, turn the tracking speed to maximum, drop the gain from 45 to (about) 30 for your soil, and turn the threshold to barely audible. Use QUALITY headphones. If you have not yet bought that 4" coil you refer to, I'd strongely suggest you get the 6.75x3.5" "Mini DD" instead. If you really want to get serious about nugget hunting, I'd recommend the GMT, or MXT, over the XLT. As to joining a prospecting Club, perhaps the BEST VALUE is the GPAA. For (about) $80.00 per year you get the right to use thousands of acres of good gold claims, and can meet a lot of good folks, too. Hope this helps; HH Jim (WWW.GOLDHUNTER.COM)

I'm Running the MXT and agree with the last post but I've read all your posts and a "DD" coil is what you need. If you put out for it you won't regret it. Then when you get into some gold you'll have something to Buy you're new GMT with....

I've not been able to bring mysalf to part with mine tho.

There just too damd pritty!

les - beside your post it says that you are 102 years old. why wait to join a club? i personally wouldn't wait another day! i'm in my late 70's and i congratulate you on the ability to get down and up from looking for coins or nuggets. i still do it - painfully i might add. i have a goldmaster v/sat. i know that it will find gold - very small gold - as i test it whenever i start to prospect but so far in four years of parttime searching i have found lots of birdshot a lot of pieces of baleing wire and many pieces of bits of cans. i'm still hangin' in and i sure hope to have something good to say about my prospecting before i'm 102. wayne

Oh Wayne, sorry to mislead you

I just wanted to post my birthday month/day without giving away the year.

I find when someone mentions how old or young they are they get alot of unfair bias, "Damn young guys think they know everything", or "Old farts always doing so much better than me".

So I tend to just stay ageless :)

las - i got you by a little bit even with the way you post it. i should have posted my age as 106. however everyone that counted the candles on my last birthday cake remembered only having to count up to 77. you are right though - what has age got to do with anything? wayne
